The next morning, Sarah awoke with a start, she felt well rested but with how late she stayed up that couldn’t be right. Without having time to consider what she’d done last night she checked her phone, her eyes widening on seeing the time. She’d slept past all three alarms! Like a whirlwind she quickly got dressed, combed her hair and made herself somewhat presentable before stomping down the stairs, where she was surprised to see her dad.

He had sleep apnea and used a CPAP machine to help him sleep and would also swallow a couple of tablets to help him get a good night’s rest. The whir of the machine sounded like a quiet vacuum, while her dad lay on his back like a hospital patient with the tube rigged up to his nose. She’d gotten a fright when she’d seen it the first time, but she’d gotten used to it by now.
