reiko mk “Don’t you lecture me. You’re just fighting so that people will like you. You’re so desperate for their approval, yet have the nerve to call me spiteful. My path as a warrior doesn’t lead to acknowledgment or people carrying me on their shoulders. I don’t fight in life because I want to be idolized. I fight to understand myself, to know my limits, to know what I’m capable of, and to go even farther. The challenges I’ve overcome, the setbacks I’ve endured, the boundaries I’ve surpassed! Those are what define me as a man, as a warrior! I walk this path because life is most valuable when you have to fight for it!”

The surprise of that act finally forced words into her mouth. “Hey, dad. Sorry, it’s me,” she answered back meekly, voice dripping with shame and guilt and not knowing what else to say.
With all that said without a word between them, Sarah slithered across the couch and cuddled up against him, happy at least she still had her dad. He was already working a tonne with his engineering job, but with mom gone, he now had to step up, organising meals, shopping, cleaning, and all the other little chores that he and mom were previously splitting.
She jolted back to reality when her dad plopped down on the couch by her feet. As usual he turned on the TV just for the quiet background noise and for something to stare at and ate his dinner as fast as he could. When he was finished, he put his bowl down on the coffee table.
